Pune may soon get another IT park near the upcoming Purandar airport, according to a report by Maharashtra Times. The state government is considering setting up an IT park across 1,500 acres of government-owned grazing land in the villages of Dive, Chambli, and Kodit in Purandar taluka.

The report, based on industry sources, states that this move is aimed at addressing the increasing traffic congestion in Hinjawadi, where many IT companies have been facing delays in employee commutes. Some companies have reportedly shifted outside Pune due to the worsening situation.

Industries Minister Uday Samant has instructed the district administration to send a proposal for transferring the land to the Industries Department. Officials from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) have reportedly conducted surveys of the three villages and suggested that while Dive offers suitable land, Chambli and Kodit could be developed as a Special Economic Zone.

The report also refers to past discussions during the assembly elections when Shiv Sena (Shinde group) MLA Vijay Shivtare requested setting up an IT park, a national market, and a ring road in Purandar. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is said to have reviewed the traffic issues in Hinjawadi during a recent visit.

Additionally, MLA Mahesh Landge took to X, stating that Pune is set to get a new IT park near the Purandar airport, with 1,500 acres under consideration.

These developments, if they move ahead, could further strengthen Pune’s position as a major technology hub, though no official confirmation has been received from government sources.
