The installation of signboards is currently in progress and is expected to finish within the week. Once opened, the ramp is expected to ease traffic flow for commuters heading towards Baner.

The other side ramp is about 90% complete, and the PMRDA has set October 2025 as the target for full project completion. This ambitious structure is designed to carry metro trains on the upper deck and vehicles on the lower deck, helping to decongest one of Pune’s busiest junctions.

Progress and project details
Currently, 88–90% of the work is complete. Ganeshkhind Road is being widened to 45 metres to ensure smooth traffic movement during the ongoing construction. The ramps on the Shivajinagar and Aundh sides are nearly ready, while the Baner and Pashan side ramps are expected to be finished by October this year.

A senior PMRDA official said, “The Aundh and Baner side flyover has been completed. We are now doing painting work and installing signage, which will be done soon. Last week, we wrote to the Chief Minister for the inauguration, but we haven’t received confirmation yet. The flyover will greatly help commuters from Aundh, Baner, Pashan and Hinjawadi areas.”

Local residents are hopeful. One of them said, “The new bridge will ease traffic on Ganeshkhind Road. PMRDA should open the Baner and Pashan side roads soon, as residents are struggling with heavy congestion.”

Timeline and delays
The construction agreement was signed on April 20, 2022, with a planned completion within 36 months from the appointed date of November 25, 2021. Originally expected to be ready in 2024, the project faced delays due to land acquisition issues for road widening.

To address the delays, the PMRDA executive committee approved an extension, setting October 30, 2025, as the final completion date.

Flyover specifications
The double-decker flyover stretches 881 metres and has six lanes. The design includes:

  • 260-metre-long, two-lane ramp on the Aundh side
  • 140-metre-long, four-lane ramp on the Baner side
  • 135-metre-long, two-lane ramp on the Pashan side
  • 130-metre-long, six-lane ramp on the Ganeshkhind side

When fully operational, the structure will not only improve road traffic but also integrate seamlessly with the Pune Metro network, making travel more convenient for thousands of daily commuters.
