Pune, July 25, 2025: SpiceJet flight SG1080 from Pune to Jaipur faced a massive 5.5-hour delay, eventually departing at 1:00 AM instead of its scheduled 7:30 PM departure, after a series of disruptions originating from Mumbai. The flight, which was supposed to land in Jaipur by 9:50 PM, finally arrived at 3:30 AM, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated.
Cascading Delays Due to Mumbai Weather
The delay occurred because the aircraft assigned to the Pune-Jaipur route was coming from Goa as part of a multi-leg journey. The Goa-Pune leg was itself delayed by nearly six hours, departing Goa at 11:33 PM instead of 5:30 PM and landing in Pune at 12:48 AM rather than 6:35 PM.
This disruption was reportedly triggered by an earlier delay in the Mumbai-Goa flight, possibly due to bad weather in Mumbai. The ripple effect left Pune-bound passengers waiting for hours, which in turn delayed the subsequent Jaipur-bound flight.
Passengers Left in the Dark
According to reports by journalist Archana Dahiwal, affected passengers were only informed about the delay upon arriving at Pune airport, with no prior communication from SpiceJet. Many travelers expressed anger over the lack of timely updates, forcing them to endure long, unexpected waits at the terminal.

“Had we known about the delay in advance, we could have made alternate arrangements. Instead, we were left clueless until the last moment,” said an irate passenger.
Airline Yet to Issue Official Statement
While airport officials acknowledged the delays were due to “operational reasons,” SpiceJet has not yet provided a detailed explanation for the inconvenience caused. The incident highlights the growing problem of cascading flight delays in India’s aviation sector, where poor communication and weather-related disruptions frequently compound passenger woes.
