Pune: Monsoon Rush at Sinhagad Fort & Tamhini Ghat Causes Massive Traffic Jams; Watch Viral Videos
Pune News, June 29, 2025: As pre-monsoon showers drenched Pune, residents flocked to popular tourist spots like Sinhagad Fort, Tamhini Ghat, Mulshi, Khadakwasla dams, and the Lonavala-Mahabaleshwar route. However, the sudden surge of visitors led to severe traffic congestion, causing frustration among Punekars.
Just a day after viral videos showed overcrowding at Harihar Fort, weekend travelers faced similar chaos at Sinhagad Fort and Tamhini Ghat. Despite reduced footfall in the past two weeks due to heavy rain and the fort’s temporary closure, lighter showers on Sunday brought back massive crowds.
Traffic snarls stretched from Sinhagad Road all the way to the fort’s foothills, while the Mulshi-Tamhini route witnessed long jams. Meanwhile, Nashik district has emerged as another monsoon hotspot, with tourists thronging Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, Surgana, and Peth for their scenic lakes, dams, and waterfalls. However, the rising tourist influx has also raised concerns over accidents and overcrowding.
