On International Doctors Day (1st July), we celebrate the remarkable contributions of physicians like Dr. Neha Jain—an accomplished Physician, Public Health Expert, and Entrepreneur—whose mission is to redefine ageing in India. With qualifications including M.B.B.S., M.D., MBA (ISB), and MSc. from the UCL, UK, Dr. Jain founded Nyle Health in 2024 with a vision to promote Healthy Ageing and build a ‘Functionally Independent’ India.

The Challenge of Ageing in India

Dr. Neha Jain highlights a critical issue: ageing in India is often associated with dependence and limitations, unlike in Western countries where seniors maintain greater independence. With India’s joint family system fading, more elderly individuals live alone, making them vulnerable if they lack physical and financial autonomy.

The Need for a “Functional Independence” Plan

Unique Comprehensive Health Check up

Dr. Jain emphasizes that just as people plan for retirement, they must also prepare for functional independence in their 40s and 50s. By adopting proactive health measures, individuals can enter their 70s with a “Health Surplus”—maintaining physical and mental strength while reducing long-term economic burdens on families and the healthcare system.

To mark Doctors DayNyle Health organized an insightful Health & Well-being Workshop in Blue Ridge Township, Hinjawadi (Phase 1). Experts discussed crucial aspects of ageing:

  1. Cardiac Health – Dr. Suchita Kamble (Interventional Cardiologist) explained that managing hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, physical inactivity, and smoking significantly reduces heart disease risks.
  2. Bone & Muscle Health – Dr. Mandar Borde (Orthopaedician) stressed that strength training combats muscle and bone loss, which begins as early as the 30s and accelerates after 50.
  3. Dietary Planning – Nutritionist Ms. Rupali Anaspure advised reducing calories, increasing protein, and correcting micronutrient deficiencies with age.
  4. Comprehensive Health Check-ups – Dr. Neha Jain emphasized doctor-guided screenings to avoid unnecessary tests while ensuring thorough health monitoring.
  5. Exercise & Prevention – A well-structured exercise regime, regular check-ups, and balanced nutrition are key to Functional Independence in later years.
