Pune: ₹500 Fine for Private Vehicles Halting Over 15 Minutes at Airport Terminal to Ease Congestion

Pune News, June 16, 2025: In a decisive move to tackle persistent traffic congestion at Pune Airport, authorities have introduced a ₹500 fine for private four-wheelers parked in front of the terminal for more than 15 minutes. The new rule, approved by Delhi headquarters, aims to streamline vehicular movement and improve passenger experience.
Strict Enforcement to Ensure Compliance
Santosh Dhoke, Director of Pune Airport, confirmed that a dedicated enforcement team will monitor vehicle movement and penalize violators.
“Traffic congestion at the terminal has become a major issue, with many drivers leaving cars unattended for hours. This causes unnecessary delays for other passengers. The ₹500 fine will discourage prolonged halting and ensure smoother traffic flow,” Dhoke explained.
Passengers Welcome the Move
Frequent flyers have praised the decision. “This was much needed. I’ve missed pickups due to terminal traffic. Strict enforcement will make airport commutes faster and hassle-free,” one passenger said.
A special squad will be deployed to identify and fine offenders, ensuring the rule is strictly followed. Officials believe this measure will significantly reduce bottlenecks and enhance overall efficiency at the airport.
