PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting with Secretaries to Strengthen National Security Preparedness

New Delhi, May 8, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting today with Secretaries of various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to review the country’s preparedness amid emerging national security concerns.
Held at the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting focused on inter-ministerial coordination, operational continuity, and institutional resilience in light of recent developments. PM Modi underscored the urgent need for seamless communication and collaboration among ministries to ensure robust response mechanisms.
The Prime Minister reviewed the detailed planning and preparedness by ministries to deal with the current situation. He directed Secretaries to undertake a comprehensive internal review of their operations and strengthen emergency response and communication protocols.
Secretaries presented their strategies using a “Whole of Government” approach. All ministries have identified action points relevant to the ongoing conflict scenario and are actively reinforcing their systems to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services. The emphasis was placed on readiness for all types of contingencies.
Key issues discussed included:
- Strengthening civil defence infrastructure
- Combating misinformation and fake news
- Securing critical national infrastructure
- Enhancing coordination with state governments and local authorities
Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretaries from vital ministries such as Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications participated in the meeting. The Cabinet Secretary was also present.
PM Modi called for continued vigilance, unified action, and clear communication strategies across all levels of government. He reaffirmed the Centre’s unwavering commitment to national security, operational preparedness, and safeguarding citizen interests during this sensitive period.
This meeting comes as part of the government’s broader efforts under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative, reaffirming its resolve to build a resilient and secure India.
