This Car Has Been the Top Selling Indian Car for the Second Month in a Row in April

For the second consecutive month, one car has dominated Indian roads and sales charts, outpacing every other model in the market. With tens of thousands of units sold and a strong start to 2025, this vehicle continues to be the top choice for Indian consumers seeking a mix of performance, design, and innovation.
So, which car is this? It’s none other than the Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Motor India Limited’s (HMIL) flagship mid-size SUV. The Creta clocked an impressive 17,016 units sold in April 2025, marking a 10.2% year-on-year growth compared to April 2024. Its cumulative sales for the January–April 2025 period stand at a strong 69,914 units.
Hyundai Creta Leads SUV Surge in India

The Creta’s success is also part of a broader trend — a massive surge in demand for Hyundai’s SUV lineup. In April 2025, SUVs made up 70.9% of Hyundai’s total domestic sales, the highest-ever contribution. The lineup includes other popular models like the Venue, Exter, and Alcazar, but it’s the Creta that leads the charge.
Adding to its appeal is the new Creta Electric, introduced recently and already contributing to Hyundai’s growing EV market share.
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of HMIL, said,
“The Hyundai CRETA’s back-to-back dominance as India’s top-selling vehicle reflects the immense trust and love from our customers. Leading the SUV segment for the first four months of 2025 and achieving a record SUV sales contribution is a proud milestone for HMIL. With its bold design, cutting-edge technology, and now an electric powertrain, the CRETA continues to set benchmarks, driving India’s mobility future.”
What Makes the Creta So Popular?
Hyundai’s Creta has remained a benchmark in the segment with its futuristic design, connected features, and safety tech. With over 12 lakh customers in India, it has been a preferred choice for more than a decade.
