The disruption began at 9:45 PM after a critical 400KV transmission line operated by the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (MSETCL) was damaged.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) stated that efforts were underway to manage the demand load, with power expected to resume by 11:45 PM. However, supply remained affected in several areas for hours, exacerbating discomfort due to rising temperatures. MSEDCL’s customer care lines were overwhelmed, leaving many residents frustrated.

Authorities attributed the outage to soaring electricity demand driven by the recent heatwave, which strained substations and transmission infrastructure. To prevent further damage, MSEDCL implemented a load trimming scheme, temporarily disconnecting supply in affected zones.

Residents expressed distress over the prolonged blackout, with many voicing concerns about disruptions to their daily routines. Community WhatsApp groups were flooded with anxious queries as people awaited updates on restoration.
