Pune, July 02, 2025: In a stirring display of patriotism and fitness, over 4,500 runners gathered at the historic Bombay Sappers Parade Ground on Sunday, June 29, 2025 for the Panchshil Soldierathon Bombay Sappers, a heartfelt tribute to the heroism, courage, and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. The event marked a significant milestone in the Fit Bharat Movement, uniting soldiers, veterans, civilians, and fitness enthusiasts in a powerful celebration of national pride.

A Run Fueled by Patriotism and Purpose
Organized by Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, India’s largest community-led fitness initiative, in collaboration with Panchshil Realty, the marathon featured three categories:
- 10 km timed run (competitive)

The event was flagged off at 6:45 AM by Governor General V. K. Singh and Southern Army Commander Lt. General Dhiraj Seth, igniting a wave of energy and pride among participants.

Running Shoulder-to-Shoulder with Heroes
What set this marathon apart was the rare opportunity for civilians to run alongside Indian Army soldiers—men and women who embody valor, discipline, and unwavering dedication to the nation. Their presence transformed the event into a moving tribute to India’s defenders.
Supporting Wounded Warriors
Beyond fitness, the Soldierathon served a noble cause—raising awareness and support for the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Kirkee, which aids soldiers who have suffered life-altering injuries in service to the nation. The run symbolized a collective salute to their sacrifices.
Fitness with a Deeper Mission
Major Surendra Poonia, VSM (Ex-Special Forces), the driving force behind Fitistan – Ek Fit Bharat, emphasized that the event was not just about running but honoring lives.
