10 New Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains to be Launched in 2025-26; Check If Your City is Included
In a major boost for rail travelers, Indian Railways is gearing up to launch 10 state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Sleeper trains in the 2025-26 financial year. The new trains, developed in collaboration with Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), promise world-class amenities at affordable prices, significantly enhancing long-distance travel.
Key Routes Expected
While the official route list is yet to be announced, sources suggest that major high-demand corridors will be prioritized, including:
- New Delhi to Howrah
- Sealdah to New Delhi
- New Delhi to Pune
- New Delhi to Mumbai
- New Delhi to Secunderabad
A senior railway official confirmed the development, stating, “We expect to roll out 10 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains this fiscal year in partnership with BEML.” The final announcement will be made by the Railway Board.
Record-Breaking Speed Trials
In a recent milestone, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train successfully hit 180 km/h during trials in the Kota Division. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the train’s stability—a glass of water placed on a flat surface remained undisturbed even at top speed.
Currently, 136 Vande Bharat Express trains operate on short and medium routes, offering premium comfort. The sleeper variant is expected to maintain similar high-speed performance while catering to overnight journeys.
